1. Apple slices (without seeds)
2. Carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers
3. Coconut flakes (unsweetened)
4. Dog-specific treats
5. Cat kibble (it is low in calories, high in protein)
6. Broccoli
7. Peanuts and peanut butter (without xylitol)
8. Bananas
9. Watermelon
10. Hugs and pats (always nourishing yet calorie-free!)
Recipe for human-and-dog-grade trail snacks
Ingredients
- Peanuts
- Dehydrated fruit (no added sugar): blueberries, strawberries, banana slices, apple slices
- Unsweetened shredded coconut
- Peanut butter
- Honey (ideally raw, for maximum health benefits)
Dog-friendly trail mix
Combine the above dry ingredients in a ziploc bag to share with your furry friend
Dog-friendly trail balls
Chop up the dehydrated fruit into bite-sized pieces. Mix the dehydrated fruit, peanuts, peanut butter and honey, using just enough peanut butter and honey to hold the dry ingredients together. Shape into 2cm balls, roll in shredded coconut and enjoy.
